Adam "Buddy" Kennedy, 77, was called home by the Lord May 2, 2025. He was the husband of the late Elaine Kennedy. Adam was born in Greeleyville, SC on April 19, 1948, he was the son of the late Frank Gibson and Roberta (Gussie) (Kennedy) DeCoster.

Adam was a loyal member and usher of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a member and brother of Free Masonry Faternal Organization. Adam honorably served our county in the United States Marines. He was a sponsor and member of the NA and AA. Adam retired from Catepillar and later worked as a truck driver for Penn Waste.

Adam leaves to cherish his memory, son, Troy Kennedy (Debbie); grandchildren, LaQuayla Kennedy, Roger Kennedy Jr, Tanjaniqua Kennedy, Aquil Bailey and Shai'quil Kennedy; great grandchildren, NiJeur, Jaziya, Catalaya, Miracle, Aquil Jr, A'zjeir, Acenzia, Skylynn, Savayah and Azara; brothers, Leroy Pearson of SC, Sylvester McCrea (Carolyn) of Hopkins, SC, John DeCoster of Noristown, PA, Pastor James DeCoster (Dr. Tijuanna), of Glendale, MD, Frederick DeCoster of Rome, GA, Marlon DeCoster of San Diego, CA; sisters, Margaret Montgomery (Ernest) of Clinton, MD, Freda DeCoster of Columbia, SC, Peggie Shuler (Minister Leonard) of Suitland, MD, Eunice Giles (Pastor Bernard) of Florence, SC, Jean DeCoster of Portland, OR, Dr. Celestine Chandler (Thomas) of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Dr. Gwendolyn Alexander (Pastor Tony) of Memphis, TN; uncle, Bishop Leon Williams of McColl, SC; aunts, Partricia Frazier and Marilyn Rice (Greg) of Kenly, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Kennedy; sons, Roger Kennedy and Lamont Kennedy; siblings, Evangelist Willa Mae McFadden, Willie James Gibson, Willie DeCoster Jr., Michael DeCoster and Minder DeCoster.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. and on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 850 S. Pine Street York, Pa 17403. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor James DeCoster officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Mount Rose Cemetery where full military rites will be performed by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
