En Memoria de Alma Pérez-Caraballo

Alma Pérez-Caraballo, o como algunos la conocían cariñosamente, Yiyi, fue una amada madre, abuela, bisabuela y fiel seguidora de Dios. Falleció a la edad de 88 años, dejando un legado de amor, fortaleza y devoción. Nació el 15 de diciembre de 1937 en Guánica, Puerto Rico, hija de Avelino Pérez y Julia Caraballo, quienes le inculcaron sólidos valores familiares y una profunda fe católica que la guio a lo largo de toda su vida.

Alma fue una mujer resiliente y de gran corazón. Su fe fue una fuente constante de consuelo y fortaleza, reflejada en su compasión, paciencia y entrega desinteresada hacia los demás. Vivió con gracia, humildad y una fe inquebrantable en Dios, encontrando paz a través de la oración y confiando siempre en la voluntad del Señor, con su Biblia siempre a su lado.

Reconocida por su extraordinaria cocina, su cocina era un lugar sagrado de risas y unión, donde cada comida se preparaba con amor y se compartía con gratitud

El centro de la vida de Alma fue su familia. Fue una madre dedicada y orgullosa de sus trece hijos: Marisol, Ángel, Wanda, María, Germán, Roberto, Carmen, Alma, Hiram, Ismael, Rafael, Luz y Edilberto. Su amor se extendió a través de generaciones a sus muchos nietos y bisnietos, quienes fueron bendiciones que atesoró profundamente.

En sus últimos años, Alma enfrentó la demencia con una dignidad serena. Durante ese tiempo, fue cuidada con amor por su nieta, Jackelyn Vega, quien le brindó una compasión, ternura y dedicación extraordinarias. Jackelyn se entregó por completo al cuidado de Alma, rodeándola de amor, paciencia y consuelo, permaneciendo fielmente a su lado hasta sus últimos momentos.

Este hermoso acto de amor fue un reflejo verdadero de los valores familiares y la fe que Alma

cultivó durante toda su vida.

Alma Pérez-Caraballo será recordada por su fe firme, su corazón generoso, sus comidas inolvidables y el amor inmenso que brindó a su familia. Nos reconforta saber que ha sido recibida en el descanso eterno, reunida con sus seres queridos y abrazada por el amor de Dios.

Aunque su ausencia se siente profundamente, su espiritu vive en la fe, las tradiciones y el amor que deja como legado.

Alma Perez-Caraballo or as some referred to her, Yiyi, was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. She was born on December 15, 1937, in Guánica, Puerto Rico, to Avelino Perez and Julia Caraballo, who instilled in her traditional family values and a deep Catholic faith that guided her throughout her life.

Alma was a woman of resilience and heart. Her faith was a constant source of comfort and strength, reflected in her compassion, patience, and selfless care for others. She lived with grace, humility, and an unwavering belief in God, finding peace through prayer and trust in the Lord's Will with her bible always by her side.

Known for her amazing cooking, her kitchen was a sacred place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness, where meals were made with love and shared in gratitude.

The centerpiece of Alma's life was her family. She was a devoted and proud mother to her thirteen children: Marisol, Angel, Wanda, Maria, German, Roberto, Carmen, Alma, Hiram, Ismael, Rafael, Luz, and Edilberto. Her love extended across generations to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessings she cherished deeply.

In her later years, Alma faced dementia with quiet dignity. During this time, she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Jackelyn Vega, who provided extraordinary compassion, tenderness, and devotion. Jackelyn dedicated herself to Alma's care, surrounding her with love, patience, and comfort, remaining faithfully by her side until her final moments. This beautiful act of love was a true reflection of the family values and faith Alma had nurtured all her life.

Alma Perez-Caraballo will be remembered for her strong faith, her generous heart, her unforgettable meals, and the boundless love she gave to her family. We find comfort knowing she has been welcomed into eternal rest, reunited with loved ones, and embraced in God's loving arms. Though deeply missed, her spirit lives in the faith, traditions, and love she leaves behind.
