Betty Jane Kemper, my mom, died on January 5th, 2023.
She was 88 years old. Our family had the best Christmas with her, one that was full of laughs and love. Our family is deeply saddened by the loss of her and her presence. We will miss her hilarious stories, her smiles, and her laugh. We all loved her so very much. Everyone loved being around her, she had no enemies. She was doing great but then had a stroke on the 28th of December.
My mom was amazing! Growing up I always viewed her as a rock star.
She was beautiful, stylish, funny, smart and was a successful female business owner in the 60s, 70s and 80s! She was an inspiration to us all! My mom owned BJ’s place on George street and later on she owned BJ’s on Duke street. She would make Italian sandwiches, pizzas, spaghetti and meatballs, and many other delicious items. She also sponsored a softball team where her friends and family would gather to enjoy the games and time together.
Later she moved to Florida to be close to her kids and grandkids; they all loved their Nanny! She was a very attentive grandma and took time to make special memories with her family by biking, gardening, and giving them lots of sweet treats. Over the years she became a great-great grandma and was loved by all her family. Betty leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Lisa Henley; grandchildren, Alicia, Michael, Isabelle, Dino, Lucas, Maxwell, Jaysa, Natalie, Nicholas, Vincent and Brantley; a brother, Richie Kemper; and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her children, Brenda, Diana and Mario; parents, Joe and Isabel (Wintermyer) Kemper; siblings, Joe Kemper, Marianna Schaffer, Bill Kemper, George Kemper and Ronnie Kemper.
We will all miss you like crazy. I love you always and forever and thank you for being my mom, the best mom. God Bless you until we meet again. We love you forever!
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Suburban Memorial Gardens, 3825 Bull Rd, Dover Pa. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
