David B. Herbst, 65, passed away July 26, 2022. Born in York, Pa on August 30, 1956, he was the son of the late Dennis Herbst, Sr. and Beverly E. Fry Albright.
David was an accomplished artist and always said "one day, when I'm gone my paintings may be worth millions; I think that's how this works". He was an avid outdoorsman and loved anything to do with nature, which was also the subject of most of his artwork. He was one of the best pool players around and was always so funny. He had a great sense of humor. David had a huge heart and was so generous, always willing to help people. Above all, he loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
David leaves to cherish his memory his companion, Colleen Flory and their beloved puppy girl, Zyna; two daughters, Rachelle Mitzel and husband Jason and Jade Miller; grandchildren, Alexus Herbst, Arthur Boyer, Nina Burns and fiancée Nick Groff, Jay'diona Abney and Jamarion Abney; great grandchildren, Rome Hartlaub, Jaxson Hartlaub and Ryland Herbst; sister, Janell Herbst; brothers, Dennis Herbst, Jr., Alan Albright, Gene Albright and John Herbst; part time roll dog, Wally; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. For a large part of David’s life he was married into the Sutherland family, by way of Sandra Sutherland, he still considered all of them family until the end.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. Pastor Jim Quoss will be officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior from 2:00-3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to take your loved ones out to eat or have a nice family sit down dinner, David would have loved that.
