Doris M. DeShields, 91, entered into rest on March 23, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Harold "Buck" DeShields.
Born on October 27, 1930 in York, she was the daughter of the late Louise Owens and Robert Edward Armstead.
Doris worked for the York City School District for over 30 years. She was a foster parent to many children over the years and later became foster parent of the year. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory, children, Robert "Chucky" Richardson, Larry Richardson, Elizabeth Shuler, and Brenda Richardson Johnson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jordan E. Richardson known as Clabber and Joseph "Fatboy" Richardson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 367 Simpson St, York . A viewing will be held prior from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
