Dorothy A. Smith peacefully went to be with Jesus on April 4, 2025. She was born November 2, 1927 the daughter of Romaine (Kerchner) Downey and Michael Downey. She graduated from William Penn Senior High School Class of 1946.

Dorothy was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was also a foster parent for many years. She had a children's ministry conducting Bible Clubs around the city for several years. Dorothy was a member of Windsor Church of God and taught Sunday school lessons.
Dorothy was preceded in death by beloved husband Rev. Richard E.Smith; son, Richard D. Smith; granddaughter, Angela Jordan; parents; four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by four daughters, Ruth Sier, son-in-law, Guy of Florida, Brenda Brown of York, Karen Sutch, fiancé, Tony Lembo of York, and Deborah Detzel, son-in-law, David of Dover; 12 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held April 13, 2025 from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc, 822 E. Market Street York, Pa 17403. The service will be April 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Windsor Church of God, 1125 Manor Rd, Windsor, PA. A viewing will be held one hour prior from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Pastor Glenn Peck will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation PO Box 96305 Washington D.C. or to Windsor Church of God, 1125 Manor Rd Windsor, PA 17366. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc is entrusted with the arrangements.
