With heavy hearts and deep love, we share the passing of Julie Lober, who left us peacefully at her residence on September 6th, 2025. Julie was a remarkable woman—strong-willed, hardworking, and endlessly compassionate. She touched countless lives with her warmth, determination, and sense of humor.
Julie was the wife of the late Walter Lober and the devoted daughter of the late William and Shirley Deme, Sr. She is survived by her cherished daughter, Sara, who was the center of her heart, and stepson Waldon Lober.
Julie was one of four siblings and is remembered lovingly by her sister Ann Conaway. She is reunited in peace with her brother Bill Deme, Jr., and her sister Christine Robertson.
Julie’s impact extended far beyond her immediate family. She was considered “the best” by many—an aunt, a confidante, a second mother, and a lifelong friend. Her best friend and caregiver, Lindy, stood faithfully by her side through all seasons. Julie’s nieces and nephews—Nicole and Brandon Craig, Angel and Patrick Daugherty, Lisa and Steve Hake, Billy Deme, and Joseph Deme—will forever cherish her loving presence and guidance. She was a proud great-aunt to Emma & Hayley Conaway, Chandler Hake, Molly Hake, Emily and Wes Smith, and Nathaniel Hake & Stacy Plowman, and a joyful great-great-aunt to Audun & Finley Hake, and Treylan & Brody Smith. Her cousins Amy Schlottag & husband Robert, and Bill Schlottag, also shared a close bond with her.
Julie loved life. She found happiness in the simple things—spending time with family and friends, basking in the sunshine with a cold drink in hand, and gathering around the table to play cards. Her community spirit shone through in her volunteer work at the UPMC Farm and the Eastern Market, where she happily lent a hand at a friend’s stand.
She was proud to be a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and a lifetime member of East Berlin VFW Post 8896.
Julie dedicated over 20 years of her life to food service, most recently retiring from the Dover School District. She served at Dover Elementary and later at Dover High School, where she found joy in seeing and serving the students each day. Before that, she had a successful career in the packaging industry, where she held roles in production, supervision, and management.
Julie lived her life with strength, love, and purpose, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital—a cause dear to her heart.
Currently, no memorial service is planned. A future “Going Home” celebration will be held in her honor, with details to be shared later.
