Marcus A. Generette, affectionately known as “Tony”, peacefully entered the presence of the lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the York Hospital. On April 21, 1957, Marcus was born in York, Pennsylvania, son of the late Gladys M. Holland and the late Theodore Barton Sr. In marriage, both the late Ervin Generette and the late William Holland Jr. lovingly embraced the role of devoted fathers to Tony. Tony was a member of the Bible Tabernacle Christian Center of York and served on the Usher board. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 127, and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 556. Tony took great joy in serving as an usher at church, and dressing in his finest fashions for any occasion or event. He also loved music and dancing. Tony had such a passion for dancing that it was said he danced his way
right into heaven. Those who knew him well were aware that dancing was his greatest joy, and it was, without a doubt, his favorite thing to do. To know Tony was to love him.

Tony is survived by five sisters: Cheryllynn (George) Riddley, Rhoda (Ernest) Little, Celeste Bryant, Neadra Barton, and Onya Barton. Two brothers: Theodore Barton Jr., Theodore Barton III, and Montez Lopez. A stepsister, Rochelle Fleming, a sister in-love Ann (Bruce) Edwards, and brothers in-love Michael Coleman Sr., and Jeff McCorkle. Tony is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren, godbrothers, godsisters, cousins, as well as extended family and friends. Tony was truly an angel on earth. He had a special way of lighting up a room and brightening anyone’s day with just his smile. Tony will be deeply missed by his loved ones and friends.

A viewing will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Bible Tabernacle Christian Center, 361 S Pine Street York, PA 17403. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Shelton Scott officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
