Phyllis (Angel) Marie Lehigh Morthland entered eternal rest on 2/9/2024 at the age of 91. Born in York County, PA on 11/6/1932, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Esther Miller Lehigh. She was the wife of the later Charles S. Morthland who died in 2014.
Phyllis graduated from Willam Penn High School class of 1950. She became a home maker, a van driver for LIU for the handicapped, and volunteered at the Margaret Moul Home, at the Brethren Home at Cross Keys, and served on the Auxillary of the Lehman Center.
Phyllis was a lifetime deaconess at Madison Avenue Church Of The Brethren where she worshipped for more than 87 years. Her greatest joy was visiting the elderly and the handicapped. She shared her God given talents of poetry and painting for over 20 years.
Phyllis is survived by 3 daughters, Lori Murray (Dennis), Lisa Dacheux, and Linda Kern (Jeffrey); a son, Lon M. Morthland preceded her in death. She has 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, June Snyder, Dorothy Coble, Ruth Crone, Treva Gingerich, Harold Lehigh, and David Lehigh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Madison Avenue Church Of The Brethren, 654 Madison Ave, York PA 17404, on March 16, 2024, visitation at 10 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m. and luncheon to follow. The burial will be private. Arrangements have been made by Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. Rev. Keith Hollenberg, her pastor, will officiate.
