James A. Jackson
James A. "Amp" Jackson, 57, passed away Monday, September 16, 2019. He was the husband of Jenie Jackson. Born on August 29, 1962 in York, Pa, he was the son of James E. and the late Margaret (Jamison) Jackson.
James was well known and loved as a football coach. He coached for over 20 years for various teams including a semi pro team and the Boys Club in York. He was a family man who you could always count on to be joking around at family cook outs. James played the bass guitar and was a talented gospel singer. He loved to cook and enjoyed driving and sitting outside. He will be greatly missed by his family.
James leaves to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife and father, five children, James Jackson, Jr, Octavia Jackson, Sequoyah Jackson, Danielle Jackson and James Jackson III; two step-children, Katelyn Friend and Tyler Friend; nine siblings, Earlean Lowrie and husband Russell, Martharine Harris and husband Anthony, Theresa James and husband Norris, Dorothy Way and husband Kelly, Angela Holmes and husband Stephon, Quanisha Overmiller and husband Bradley, Louis Jackson, Lanse Jackson and wife Catrina and Daryin Jackson; two adopted brothers, Jamar Jackson and Alfonso Jackson; step-mother, Mary Jackson; 12 grandchildren; one great grandchild; special cousin, Leda Dowling; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 10: a.m. - 12 noon at Fairview Full Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 465 S. Pine Street, York, Pa 17403. The service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert J. Jamison, Sr. officiating.
