Samuel L. Bortner

July 17, 1946 - November 29, 2021

     Samuel L. Bortner, 75, entered into rest on November 29, 2021 at his home. He was the loving husband of Sandy J. (Lentz) Bortner. 

     Born on July 17 1946 in York to the late Pearl D. (Lloyd) and Steven Bortner. He graduated form Eastern York High School in the class of 1964 and went on to graduate from York College in 1972. Samuel honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. 

     Sam was a member of the West York VFW, Northern York County Game and Fish, and the York Rifle Club. He enjoyed traveling, fishing with his grandchildren, collecting guns, and camping at Tuckahoe Campgrounds in Delaware. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. 

     In addition to his wife, Sandy, Sam leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Kris Bortner and wife Joelleen and Kory Bortner and wife Carrie; daughter, Jaime Sauve; grandchildren, Noah, Riley, Abraham, Ezra, Maranatha, Pearl, Ethan, Job, Evie, and Samuel; and a host of family and friends. 

     A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Praise Community Church, 705 S. Ogontz St, York Pa. Pastor Adam Bower will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to Disabled American Veterans Charity, DAV.org. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
